PONGAL 2012
January 15,2012, is Makar Sankranti.Among the tamils in Southern India it is known as Pongal, Thai pongal.It means in the month of Thai. Thai refers to the name of the tenth month in the Tamil calender.On this day theydecorate their homes with banana and mango leaves and the floor with different types of kolam designs.
